I found spiral shaped incense "sticks" online and gave it a go in the darkroom.

First, I burnt the whole spiral on the paper. Something is missing but I can't quite put my finger on it yet.

I am more intrigued by the macro details in the image. Their irregular and uncontrolled shapes have a scale-shifting quality that the spiral can't quite achieve

Letting the spiral burn only partially created some more interesting images, revealing enigmatic organisms that remind me of the origin of life.

Finally, I am not entirely sure how I achieved to imprint my fingerprint with such sharpness...but I like it! It's like a faraway galaxy at the tip of my finger. The texture recalls prehistoric cave paintings somehow.

This last one was made with hot coal to burn incense resins. There's something going on here. To explore further.
