Kintsugi (?)

I went a bit too far burning one of my works...and ended up with a large hole at the centre of the piece. It's happened before with incense sticks, but in those cases, the rupture followed the shape of the sticks and looked like a crack at the heart of the object, which I actually kinda liked (I love Fontana).
But when the burn destroyed a larger portion of the work I usually discarded it.
This time, maybe inspired by my recent trip in Japan*, I had an idea. I used (fake) gold leaf on black paper and placed it behind the print. Now there's a golden treasure beneath the wounded piece.
I have been hinting at layering and gold before, but never really explored it. Can this be the start of something?
*Kintsugi (金継ぎ) is a traditional Japanese art form that involves repairing broken pottery using lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. Rather than hiding the breakage, Kintsugi highlights it — treating the crack or damage as an important part of the object’s history and identity, not something to disguise.
