Yesterday my enlarger arrived! I looked for a colour enlarger in order to have more possibilities for my photograms. After a long search, I finally found the perfect fit for my budget and requirements on an online auction. It took almost a month for it to get to Paris. When it finally arrived, I put it together and soon discovered that the yellow filter knob was stuck or broken. So sad. I knew it could have been a scam, but since it actually arrived I was hopeful it would actually work fine. I decided to give it a go and open it up. Worst case, I'll break it even more but at least I'll know what it looks like inside! I got out my tools and started taking the head apart. I meticulously placed all the small pieces on the table and finally got to the broken filter knob. I tweaked it, and turned it and ...I repaired it! I'm normally not very handy so this small success made my day. I had to tell Daniel about this little big endeavour of mine! Then, I realised that it didn't come with a timer. I looked on "leboncoin", kid of a French Creiglist, but there was none. Daniel came to the rescue. He has been a constant source of inspiration and support in my darkroom-making adventure. The low residency allowed us to start building what I think could become a deep and true friendship.
He is sensitive and generous, and he offered to give me one of his spare timers, and a focus finder too!
Holly was still in London, so she went to meet Daniel and took the accessories to Paris. WonderHolly :)
I met with her for dinner last night. She delivered the precious package as well as some great conversation.
Today is a good day. My quest for the pieces of my home darkroom is complete...with a little help of my friends. THANK YOU!
I'm only missing a table and the chemicals to start having fun. Tomorrow I have to leave for work for 2 weeks.
I can't wait to be back and put this fireball to use!
A few pictures of my endeavour:
A big THANK YOU to Daniel and Holly!
